GENERAL COMMENT
I can honestly say that it has been many years since I was so disappointed at a County Schools championship; the 2018 track & field championships were lacking in atmosphere, competitors and the enthusiasm of spectators. The years spent in building up local school championships and giving some freedom to the athletes to choose events and allow them to enter themselves to allow for the oversights or other errors was wiped away in a single championships. I am certain that I am not alone in thinking this and that some friendships are now strained,so be it.
I encourage those who share my disappointment to share their thoughts.
I could say more but feel sure that others will share their thoughts and encourage positive actions.
AN ENCOURAGING EVENT
Many areas give their athletes a "last chance to impress" and send athletes to an Inter County competition;such an event is held every year in Birmingham - THE MASON TROPHY sees 10 counties competing in friendly rivalry at the school age "Junior" and "Inter" Boys & Girls age groups.
The 2018 results can be seen here Results will also appear in AW and PO10 here https://www.thepowerof10.info/results/results.aspx?meetingid=234457
